Venture Downunder Heads West: National Venture Capital Event Coming To WA In August

Now in its eighth year, Venture Downunder is one of the headline events on the Australian and New Zealand venture capital calendar. The 2025 edition, to be held in WA’s Swan Valley from August 5th to 8th, is expected to bring more than 80 investors from across Australia and New Zealand to connect with local founders, funds, and innovation leaders.
The event is designed to foster deeper discussions between investors and startups, build relationships, and ultimately translate into real capital flowing into Western Australia’s innovation economy.
Science and Innovation Minister Stephen Dawson said hosting the event was another step forward in the Cook Government’s commitment to building the local venture capital ecosystem.
“The Cook Government is committed to strengthening our local venture capital sector, and initiatives like bringing Venture Downunder to the State allow us to showcase what we have to offer on a national stage,” Minister Dawson said.
“Events such as Venture Downunder help enhance the availability of private investment opportunities which are crucial to the growth of startups and local venture funds.”
The announcement comes off the back of the State Government’s $45 million WA Venture Capital (WAVC) initiative, launched last year, which is expected to drive over $150 million in private investment into WA-based startups.
That funding is already helping more companies to secure capital locally, and attracting more companies to base themselves in WA.Venture Downunder is delivered by Innovation Bay. More information about the 2025 event can be found here.
