Deepika Padukone and Sandeep Reddy Vanga have been clashing over the director’s upcoming movie, Spirit. Many reports claim that the actor made unprofessional demands. Taking to social media, Vanga wrote an indirect post about actors playing dirty PR games. While the clash went on for sometime, stars including Ajay Devgn, Kajol and Saif Ali Khan weighed in on the same.

Now, Mani Ratnam has joined the conversation. Noting that Deepika’s demands weren’t unprofessional, he noted that they seem “rightful.” Mani Ratnam added, ” I’m glad she is in a position to ask for it. I think as a filmmaker, you will take into consideration when you cast. It is not an unreasonable thing to ask, but an absolute necessity. You have to acknowledge that, understand it and work around it.”

Among Deepika’s reported demands were 8-hour work days, Rs 20 crores remuneration, profit-sharing rights and not delivering dialogues in Telugu.

Previously, Ajay Devgn shared his take on the row. Opening up on maintaining work-life balance, the actor-producer noted, “Most of the honest filmmakers will not have problems with it. And apart from this, being a mother and working for eight hours, most people have started working eight-nine hour shifts.”

Saif Ali Khan said, “I hate coming home and seeing the kids already asleep. That’s not success. Success is being able to say, ‘No, I need to go home now to catch that half hour with them.”
