Perth Landing Pad Secures $150,000 In Renewed State Funding
The WA State Government has committed $150,000 to sponsor Spacecubed’s Perth Landing Pad through 2026, backing a programme that gives overseas start-ups a 90-day runway into the Western Australian market.
The renewed sponsorship will fund expanded business attraction activities, deeper international partnerships, and support for global start-ups entering WA. Science and Innovation Minister Stephen Dawson framed the programme as a way for foreign founders to test the local market without committing upfront. “The Cook Labor Government knows that WA is a fantastic place to innovate and invest in, and the Perth Landing Pad is one way that international start-ups can break into our valuable market landscape,” he said.
Run out of Spacecubed, Perth Landing Pad takes technology companies through a guided 90-day sprint in Perth with mentoring, local business introductions, co-working and community space, and advice on longer-term residency. The pitch leans on WA’s time-zone overlap with Asian markets and its proximity to the region, positioning Perth as a staging point for start-ups eyeing both Australian and Asian expansion.
More than 100 international companies have engaged with the programme since its establishment. It has also locked in seven international Memoranda of Understanding spanning India, Vietnam, the Philippines, South Korea, and Indonesia, building referral pathways the government hopes will funnel more overseas founders toward Perth.
“This further funding will help expand global partnerships, support new technology development, and ensure local start-ups have the connections they need to scale internationally,” Dawson said, pointing to a two-way benefit in which incoming companies open doors for WA start-ups looking outward.
The government has positioned the investment within its broader science and technology agenda and its push to diversify an economy still heavily weighted toward resources. Dawson said the programme strengthens the State’s reputation “as a destination for innovation, investment, and emerging industries.”
