Australia’s Leading MedTech Conference Heads To Perth In 2026

Perth has officially been named the host city for AusMedtech 2026, marking a major milestone for Western Australia’s rapidly growing biomedical and medical technology sector. The conference — Australia’s leading event for the medtech industry — will take place over two-and-a-half days in 2026 and is expected to draw hundreds of industry leaders from across the nation and around the world.

This is the first time Perth will host AusMedtech, and it comes at a time when Western Australia’s biomedical sector is surging. Fuelled by strong government backing and a collaborative innovation ecosystem, WA is increasingly being recognised as a medtech powerhouse.

A Sector on the Rise

WA’s medtech and life sciences industry has been gaining serious momentum in recent years, supported in large part by the Future Health Research and Innovation Fund (FHRIF). Since launching in 2020, the fund has distributed approximately $215 million in grants across 655 recipients, supercharging local innovation and research. An additional $277 million has been earmarked over the next four years to continue supporting medical breakthroughs and technologies that improve patient outcomes.

Science and Innovation and Medical Research Minister Stephen Dawson described Perth’s selection as AusMedtech host as “a solid endorsement of WA’s biomedical sector becoming a bigger player on the national stage.”

Who’s Driving Innovation in WA MedTech?

Perth is already home to a number of cutting-edge medtech companies making waves both nationally and internationally. Some of the key players shaping the future of health and medicine in WA include:

• OncoRes Medical – Developing breakthrough imaging technology to help surgeons more accurately remove cancerous tissue, reducing reoperations and improving patient outcomes.
• Orthocell – A regenerative medicine company creating cell therapies to restore mobility and repair soft tissue injuries, especially in musculoskeletal conditions.
• HealthRegen – Innovating curative treatments that aim to transform diabetes care.
• Gene S – Using gene testing to tailor medication doses for individuals, improving efficacy and safety.
• 10th Axis – A research services provider accelerating medtech development and commercialisation.

These innovators are supported by organisations like the WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub, which nurtures collaboration and capability building across the industry, and Life Sciences WA, the peak body representing the State’s life sciences sector.

AusMedtech 2026: More Than Just a Conference

The AusMedtech 2026 program will go beyond the conference room, offering site tours of Perth’s growing ecosystem of health and medical research hubs, medtech infrastructure, and innovation precincts. This will give attendees a firsthand look at the facilities and partnerships fuelling WA’s biomedical success.

The event will also serve as a prime opportunity to attract new investment, build international collaborations, and position WA as a globally connected medtech hub.

Minister Dawson, who recently led a WA delegation to AusMedtech 2025 in Sydney, said the government is committed to ensuring WA remains at the forefront of biomedical innovation.
