Sharmin Segal welcomes baby boy with husband Aman Mehta

Sharmin Segal, niece of celebrated filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali and one of the breakout stars of Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, has reportedly welcomed her first child with husband Aman Mehta. As per journalist Vickey Lalwani, Sharmin gave birth to a baby boy on May 28. However, the news has yet to be officially confirmed by the couple or their close circle.
Sharmin and Aman tied the knot in an intimate destination wedding in Italy in 2023. Aman Mehta is the son of billionaire industrialist Samir Mehta, co-chairman of the Torrent Group. As of 2024, Samir Mehta’s estimated net worth stands at a staggering $6.44 billion. Post their wedding, the couple settled in Ahmedabad, though Sharmin has been spotted in Mumbai in recent months.

Sharmin Segal’s affair with Bollywood has a history of family roots. She is the third generation from the Bhansali-Segal film lineage. Her grandfather, Mohan Segal had famously launched Rekha. On the other hand, her mother, Bela Segal, edited Bhansali’s Black which released in 2005. Before making her debut as an actress, Sharmin worked behind the camera, assisting her uncle on films like Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela and Bajirao Mastani.

Segal made her debut as an actor in Mangesh Hadawale’s Malaal in 2019 opposite Meezaan Jafri.  She was last seen as Alamzeb in Heeramandi opposite the likes of Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Richa Chadda and more. Her romance with Taha Shah’s Tajdar Baloch was loved by fans.This marked her most popular stint to date which received mixed reactions from the audience.
