Student Edge Acquired By Workforce-Tech Platform Year13
For more than two decades, Student Edge has played a pivotal role in the lives of Australian students — a Perth-born platform built by Craig Chetty, Damien Langley, Jeremy Chetty, and Simon Loader, with a vision to help young people navigate career and life decisions. Now, the company’s journey enters a new chapter, with Sydney-based workforce technology company Year13 acquiring Student Edge, marking a notable exit for its founders and a new era for both companies.
Australia’s largest student platform
Founded in 2003, Student Edge grew from a small Perth team to become one of Australia’s largest student platforms. With a membership base exceeding one million, it has become known for career readiness tools, financial literacy resources, and exclusive student rewards. The business and founders have also long been part of WA’s broader tech landscape, supporting young Australians and building a national reputation while remaining headquartered in Perth.
Reflecting on the milestone, co-founder Damien Langley said, “We built Student Edge into a trusted platform for young people to access career tools and insights that genuinely support their journey. Joining forces with Year13 means we are combining two purpose-driven teams with a shared vision to help more students than ever before.”
Why did Year13 acquire Student Edge?
Year13, also Australian-founded, has quickly established itself as a leader in workforce technology, providing digital pathways for school leavers, collaborating with employers, educators, and brands, and building products across e-learning, virtual work experience, and career discovery. With more than two million students already on its platform, the acquisition of Student Edge is intended to strengthen its research, rewards, and data capabilities.
Year13 co-founder and co-CEO Will Stubley said, “The acquisition of Student Edge is a game-changer for our growth, both in Australia and the US. Student Edge brings a complementary and proven model to Year13’s vision. In the US, it adds valuable experience in discounts, rewards, and enterprise relationships that align perfectly with our go-to-market strategy.”
What’s next?
For students, the joining of these two platforms promises richer career tools, more tailored resources, and broader opportunities — both at home and abroad.
As the Student Edge founders step back, Year13 will integrate its research, insights, and rewards offerings with Student Edge’s established network, expanding their combined reach across Australia and into the US. The focus for both teams is now on scaling their impact, unlocking new value for users and partners, and continuing to champion student potential on both sides of the country.
