WA Medtech Startups Showcased On Global Stage At LSI Asia 2025

Western Australia’s fast-growing medical technology sector is stepping onto the global stage this week, with several local innovators set to showcase their cutting-edge devices at Life Science Intelligence (LSI) Asia 2025 in Singapore — one of the Asia-Pacific’s premier life sciences investment forums.
WA Science and Innovation Minister Stephen Dawson is leading the delegation, using the visit to promote the State’s expanding medtech ecosystem and foster stronger innovation and investment ties with Singapore, already WA’s fourth-largest trading partner.
WA innovations in the spotlight
Among the startups flying the WA flag at the event are OncoRes Medical and VeinTech, both participating in LSI Asia’s global pitch program.
OncoRes Medical will present its groundbreaking Elora scanning device, designed to help surgeons more precisely detect cancerous tissue during breast cancer surgery — an innovation that could significantly improve surgical outcomes.
Meanwhile, VeinTech will showcase its VeinWise device, aimed at improving the success rate of cannula insertions, a common medical procedure where failure rates remain stubbornly high.
Both companies exemplify the strong pipeline of medtech innovation emerging from WA in recent years.
Also earning international attention is Orthocell, one of the ASX’s top-performing biotech stocks in 2024. The company secured regulatory approval in Singapore late last year for its Remplir™ regenerative medical device, which assists in nerve repair — another milestone for WA’s biotech sector.
Deepening WA-Singapore medtech ties
Minister Dawson will also participate in a high-level roundtable with government and industry leaders during his visit and meet with the Action Community for Entrepreneurship Singapore, building on a Memorandum of Understanding signed last year to promote knowledge exchange and collaboration between the two regions.
The relationship is set to deepen further, with several Singaporean medtech companies scheduled to visit Perth in July to explore potential partnerships and collaborations with WA startups and researchers.
Singapore is already a key partner for WA’s innovation sector, with $14.4 billion in goods traded between the two markets last year. The medtech sector is viewed as a growing opportunity within this broader relationship.
“Singapore is a vital trade and investment partner for Western Australia, and this visit provides an opportunity to deepen our shared commitment to innovation, investment, and health outcomes across the region,” Minister Dawson said.
Major medtech events on the horizon
Later this year, Perth will host AusMedTech 2026, Australia’s flagship medtech conference. The event is expected to draw significant international interest and provide further opportunities for WA startups to connect with global investors, manufacturers, and research partners.
