WA Space Startups Called To Join Government Delegation At IAC 2025 In Sydney

The WA Government is calling on local space sector organisations to express their interest in joining its delegation at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) 2025 — an unmissable global gathering of the brightest minds and boldest innovations in the space industry.
Running from 29 September to 3 October 2025 in Sydney, IAC 2025 is expected to attract more than 10,000 attendees from around 100 countries, making it one of the most influential space conferences in the world. With Australia hosting this event for the first time since 2017, the spotlight will be firmly on homegrown talent and innovation.
As part of the delegation, up to 20 Western Australian organisations will have the opportunity to co-exhibit at the WA stand, which will be positioned prominently within the Australia Zone. The space will include pods and mobile ‘rovers’ — designed to maximise visibility and facilitate high-impact networking with international investors, researchers, government agencies, and space tech companies.
Organised by the International Astronautical Federation, the annual IAC has been running for more than 75 years and brings together astronauts, engineers, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to shape the future of space exploration and technology.
Speaking on the opportunity, WA Science and Innovation Minister Stephen Dawson said:
“Attending the International Astronautical Congress as part of the WA Government’s delegation is a fantastic opportunity for our local space sector organisations to showcase their innovation and activities to the international space sector.”
“Growing the local space sector will have enormous benefit for WA, leading to more innovations to improve environmental and community outcomes, and boost productivity.”
A Launchpad for WA’s Space Ambitions
The WA space sector has seen a surge in momentum in recent years, thanks to the state’s strategic geographical advantages, thriving research institutions, and a growing number of tech-led startups working on Earth observation, satellite communications, and space-based data services.
For startups, participation could unlock new international partnerships, customer pipelines, and investment opportunities. With global interest in sovereign space capability growing — and major players like NASA, the ESA, and SpaceX in regular attendance — WA innovators will be rubbing shoulders with the very best in the industry.
Don’t Miss the Countdown
Expressions of Interest to join the WA Government delegation are now open and must be submitted by May 30th, 2025. The application form and further details are available here.
